DCC Juniors – Code of Conduct

Dumbleton Cricket Club is committed to ensuring that all our young people have a safe and positive experience. As part of that commitment, we have laid out certain standards that we expect to be maintained:

 Juniors

•  to play within the rules and respect officials and their decisions.

•  to behave safely and sensibly during practice sessions and follow the coaches instruction

•  to refrain from using crude or abusive language

•  to keep to agreed timings for training and matches or inform your coach or team manager if you're going to be late.

•  to pay your subscription fee of £10 per season (by end of May)

•  if representing the club, to pay your £2 match fee promptly to your team manager after the game

•  to respect decisions made by captains, managers and coaches

•  to respect the rights of other people regardless of age, gender, disability, race or religion.

•  to refrain from smoking or consuming alcohol/drugs while on club premises or representing the club

 

Parents and Carers

•  to encourage your child to learn the rules and play within them.

•  to discourage unfair play and arguing with officials.

•  to help your child recognise good performance, not just results.

•  to never force your child to take part.

•  to set a good example by applauding fair play and good performances of all.

•  to never punish or belittle a child for losing or making mistakes.

•  to publicly accept officials' judgments

•  to respect decisions made by captains, managers and coaches

•  to support your child's involvement and help them to enjoy their cricket.

•  to use correct and proper language at all times.

•  to encourage your child to accept responsibility for their own performance and behaviour.

 

Coaches, Managers and Volunteers

All DCC coaches have agreed to abide by the ECB Coaches Code of Conduct and to the following (taken from the ECB safe hand policy)…

•  to respect the rights, dignity and worth of every person

•  to not discriminate on the grounds of age, gender, religion, race, sexual orientation or disability – and to challenge any form of discrimination if you see it

•  to place the well-being and safety of the young people above the development of performance

•  to develop an appropriate working relationship with young people, based on mutual trust and respect

•  to ensure the activities are appropriate for the age, maturity, experience and ability of the individual

•  to promote fair play and teach the rules, etiquette and skills required for cricket

•  to make it as enjoyable as possible for the young people taking part.

•  to encourage players to value their performance, not just their results.

•  to respect young people's opinions when making decisions about their participation and never exert undue influence over them.

•  to display high standards of language, manner, punctuality, preparation, presentation, behaviour and appearance

•  to always work in an open environment, avoiding private or unobserved situations

•  to not smoke, drink or use banned substances whilst actively working with young people

•  to not give young people alcohol when they are under the care of the club

•  to know, understand and follow the ECB Welfare of Young People (Safe Hands) Policy and Procedures

•  to hold relevant qualifications and/or attend training relevant to your role

•  to be CRB checked and approved

•  to have insurance cover

•  to be aware of and report any conflict of interest as soon as it becomes apparent

•  to ensure that physical contact is appropriate and necessary and is carried out within ECB recommended guidelines and with the young person's full consent and approval

•  to not engage in any form of sexually related contact with a young player including sexual innuendo, flirting or inappropriate gestures and terms. This is strictly forbidden.

to report any welfare concerns by following reporting procedures laid down by the ECB
